Adata discreetly launches the smallest USB 4 external SSD and its fastest portable drive to date.
It offers transfer speeds of up to 40 Gbps and a capacity of 8 TB.
Adata has unveiled a series of innovative storage products at CES 2025, highlighting the XPG SE940, which represents its first portable hard drive based on USB 4 technology. This novel device positions itself as the smallest USB 4 external hard drive on the market, offering impressive speeds of up to 4,000 MB/s for both read and write, making it a serious competitor in the external storage sector.
The SE940 incorporates a state-of-the-art controller from Silicon Motion, ensuring stable performance and efficient power consumption. Furthermore, this model features a fingerprint reader and storage options of up to 8 TB, providing ample space for multimedia work and backups.
Adata also presented other SSD models at the event, such as the XPG MARS 970 Storm and Blade, both Gen 5 M.2 NVMe SSDs with capacities of up to 8 TB, capable of achieving read speeds of 14 GB/s and write speeds of 12 GB/s. The portable SR800 and SR820 models made their debut with speeds of up to 20 GB, utilizing USB 3.2 Gen 2 and offering capacities of up to 4 TB.
Finally, the company introduced the SDXC SD 8.0 Express memory card, which utilizes PCIe 3.0 x2, achieving read speeds of up to 1600 MB/s and write speeds of 1200 MB/s. This launch marks a significant advancement in Adata's storage solutions, anticipating that in the coming years, more external SSDs utilizing USB 4 technology will emerge.
