A sequel to Okami is in the works.

Another pleasant surprise.

At a recent event, Capcom surprised attendees by announcing that a sequel to Okami is in the works, an acclaimed action-adventure game that was first released in 2006. This revelation, which was accompanied by an exciting musical performance, marks the return of the original director, Hideki Kamiya, who will lead the development from his new studio, Clovers.

Although the project has been officially confirmed, it was emphasized that it is still in its early stages, with Geoff Keighley, the event's host, mentioning that "production is about to begin." Capcom made it clear that a "new adventure in the same style as Okami" has begun.

This announcement comes at a time when Capcom seems focused on reviving and expanding some of its most beloved franchises. Besides Okami, the company also unveiled a new title in the Onimusha series, which will be released in 2026. They are currently working on other projects, such as Monster Hunter Wilds and a new mobile game titled Monster Hunter Outlanders, which is set to launch next year.
