A sequel to Alien: Isolation is in its early stages of development.
You bring the motion tracker and I'll carry the flamethrower.
To commemorate the first decade since the release of Alien: Isolation, the developers at Creative Assembly have revealed that they are working on a sequel. Al Hope, the company’s creative director, stated: “We have clearly heard your cries for help. I’m pleased to confirm, on behalf of the team, that a sequel to Alien: Isolation is in early development.”
Alien: Isolation was released in 2014 and received very positive reviews, being considered one of the best video game adaptations of the Alien franchise. In this game, players control Amanda Ripley, the daughter of Ellen Ripley, who is trying to discover her mother’s whereabouts 15 years after the events of the first Alien movie. One of the factors that contributed to the game’s success was its ability to generate deep anxiety and fear. Instead of directly confronting the xenomorphs, Alien: Isolation challenges players to accomplish their objectives while avoiding and escaping from these creatures, using franchise-specific tools like motion trackers and flamethrowers.
The Alien franchise has seen a resurgence recently. The latest movie, Alien: Romulus, has been considered an acceptable return to the series' claustrophobic survival horror roots, following the bold creative decisions made in Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. Additionally, there is an Alien television series scheduled to debut next year, directed by Noah Hawley, known for his work on Fargo.
