A new Microsoft Teams update will make it easier to find what you need.

New chat features and channels are being introduced in Microsoft Teams.

Microsoft Teams is rolling out an update that will simplify the tracking of activities within the platform. This modification will bring all conversations, teams, and channels together in one place, specifically in the Chat menu. According to the company, this advancement is designed to make online collaboration more efficient and effective, allowing users to stay on top of important notifications.

With the increase in work pace, managing the large volume of conversations and accessing messages scattered across different locations has become increasingly complicated. To address this issue, Microsoft has redesigned the chat and channels experience, centralizing activity in a new hub within the Chat menu.

In addition to this centralization, Teams will introduce a new mentions view (@mentions) so users can catch up on direct messages in one place. The tool will also offer new filters that will allow users to focus on what really matters at that moment, along with additional controls that will help them customize their workflow and information consumption style. There will also be options for greater visibility and customization, allowing users to view chats and channels separately, visualize message advancements, or group all channels into a single list.

Another new feature will be the ability to create custom sections, grouping chats, channels, and meetings into specific areas, such as concrete work projects. A favorites section will also be implemented, where pinned chats and channels can be gathered in one place.

This new proposal will be available on desktop, mobile, and Android and iOS operating systems, enabling users to manage their workload while on the go. The update is expected to be launched in the coming days. Furthermore, the company announced that it is working on threaded conversations in the Teams chat, which will make the application more agile and simple, with a planned rollout by mid-2025.
