A New Look at the Half-Life 2 RTX Remaster.

Today, NVIDIA released a trailer that gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at Orbifold Studios' efforts to incorporate more modern graphics tools into the iconic title.

A development team announced last August that they were working on a modification that updates the graphics of Half-Life 2 using RTX technology. Recently, NVIDIA released a trailer that offers fans a glimpse into the work of Orbifold Studios, which aims to visually modernize this video game classic. The video showcases the use of the RTX Remix engine, which allows the team to implement significant graphical enhancements in a game whose foundation was created nearly two decades ago. Among the innovations are more dynamic light sources, the inclusion of volumetric fog in areas with specific atmospheres, and detailed 3D modeling of objects in the environment.

Although Orbifold has not shared a release date for their project, the 20th anniversary of Half-Life 2 is approaching on November 16, which could indicate that Valve has something planned for that date. However, this is not Half-Life 3. Well-known YouTuber and Valve specialist journalist Tyler McVicker has noted that there is a new password-protected branch of the game on Steam. Given the number of new test versions that have been distributed in this space, it seems that the upcoming update is more extensive than the one the company presented to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Half-Life 1 last year. So, if you’re eager to use gravity again, this weekend might be the perfect time to do so.
